Tips and Tricks for using the Baja Net Map. This file is called hammap.txt because it matches the file hammap.est, which is the name of the map itself; but you can rename either one anything you want if it helps you to remember it. Don't forget to note where you put it. Basically, the callsign which has been added as a pushpin, becomes an address. So, in order to find it, you enter the callsign in the search box and hit [Enter]. It takes you straight to that place and puts the flag up showing the callsign and the name. If there are two hams in the household, it shows both of them. However, the search only works on the first one shown. So, if you're looking for Mr. and Mrs. SoAndSo, search for the Mr. That's tradition and we're sticking to it. Politically Correct has not arrived here yet! The red dot right in the middle means just that - it's in the middle. You can X out the flag if you want. I like to see the map come up the same each time. Therefore, when I close and did't make any changes, I don't Save. However, if you make changes and want it to look the same way next time you open it, here's how. Type "map center" in the search box and hit [Enter]. That takes you to the red dot putting it exactly in the center. It also pops up the flag. Note the flag says that the scale is 3250 miles. Now set the slider at the top to 3250 and you got it - just the way you found it. Now "Save" it. As mentioned, these are simply "Pushpins". You can add your own. Remember the search goes to the first thing on that top line in the flag. If you put the name in the top and the callsign on the next row, it won't find that callsign. I update the map periodically as people move and we get new people added. The update is shown in the lower left corner. REMEMBER, if you add something yourself, it will not appear if you subsequently download a newer version from this website.
